Available for immediate purchase is this rare, new (with very slight evaporation), 1960s vintage, made in the USA, guaranteed original and authentic, English Leather after shave splash in a generous 4-ounce (120ml) heavy glass bottle with wooden cap by the ORIGINAL Mem Company Inc. of Northvale, New Jersey. The base is embossed: Bottle Made in Germany for Mem. The paper label is in excellent condition and is completely intact. All photos were taken at 40x magnification to best highlight overall condition. The buyer will receive the exact item pictured. The 1960s labels are a solid, dark brown with no exterior framing in a different color. “English Leather” appears on one line (not two) and is in Old English scripted font. The logo has a red cap with beige saddle. The Mem corporate information is in red lettering. Launched in 1949, English Leather is classified as a leather scent and features top notes of bergamot, lavender, lemon, orange, and rosemary; middle notes of honey, iris and rose; on a base of cedar, musk, tonka bean, leather, and vetiver. English Leather Reformulation History English Leather was originally launched in 1949 by the MEM Company, which was founded in 1883 in Austria and moved to the USA in the late 1940s when leather fragrances became popular with Americans who associated the scent with World War II pilot jackets. In 1996, English Leather was reformulated when MEM was acquired by Renaissance Cosmetics, Inc., via its subsidiary Dana Perfume Corporation (Dana Perfume Corp. was purchased by Renaissance Cosmetics in 1994).
