YOU BUY THEM, YOU OWN THEM!!!*** This listing is for a set of FOUR (4) used original equipment 14″ wire spoke wheel covers (stock #SO4-6466) with chrome 3-bar spinner ornaments removed from a 1966 Chevy Impala. This style was originally offered on the 14″ STANDARD STEEL wheels of the 1964-1966 Chevy Impala, Bel Air, Chevelle, Nova, Biscayne and numerous other Chevy models equipped with the 14″ standard steel wheels. They can also be used on most other GM 14″ steel wheels of the same era, but the vehicle must be RWD in order for them to fit properly. I acquired this set from a former neighbor that had them on his yellow 1965 Chevy Impala. One of the caps has the same yellow that the car was painted on the back side (top right cap). I have no idea why the paint would be on the back side of the cap, but it is there! It isn’t visible from the front side and really is of no concern when the cap is installed. As I recall, I was still at the age that I was riding my bike when I finally talked my neighbor into giving me these caps, so that would mean they haven’t been on a vehicle since approx. 2001. Before that, they were on the vehicle that sat in the back of his property for at least 15 years without moving (he had several vehicles that he “collected” in his makeshift junkyard). I cleaned them way back when I got them, but they haven’t been cleaned since. I have intentionally left them in their uncleaned, unpolished condition so that you can see them at their worst. I do NOT want to oversell these as they are highly sought after and hard to find. I would much prefer that the new owner cleans them up and is happy with their purchase than to attempt to make them look nicer than they are. The caps included in this set are, as previously stated, still very dirty. They have been sitting in my basement for over 20 years.collecting dust. In addition to being dirty, there are areas that show pitting on the chrome spinner ornaments, some paint loss on the backing plates, dings on the outer edges, scratches/scuffs from brushes with curbs and various other cosmetic flaws from back when they were still being used. The retaining bands/clips are all in place on the back side, but there is surface oxidation present as seen in photos. It is NOT structural, and the caps snap on as they should. Finally, one area of potential concern is on the bottom left cap. TWO of the FOUR mounting bolts for the spinner are snapped off. The spinner is still attached and isn’t going anywhere any time soon, but buyer may want to address this issue at some point in the future. Any and all of the areas of concern or areas with notable flaws are shown in the individual photos provided. These are CLIP-ON style caps that do NOT require locking hardware to install them correctly. They simply bang onto the wheel and are held in place by clips on the back sides. All of the clips are in place and strong. Please see all photos provided as this is the EXACT set you will receive!!! Again, any areas of concern are highlighted in the close-up photos provided. LQQK CLOSELY!!! This set is not perfect or new, but all four caps are original, and fully functional. They should make a good starter set for a daily driver or EASY restoration candidates if perfection is required. They will serve their purpose, but please do not expect perfection, or you will be disappointed!!! This is a great deal for someone missing their caps or looking to upgrade from the standard wheel covers. Purchase price is for the EXACT set of 14″ wire wheel covers shown.
